Several cosmetic surgeons may lack this critical certification.
Additional membership in such National organizations as The American Society of Plastic Surgery, The American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the American College of Surgery add creditability to the qualifications of a Plastic Surgeon. Having membership in other local medical societies... Such as The Texas Society of Plastic Surgery, The Texas Medical Society, and Hidalgo County Medical Society again identify an active, practicing physician.
I am Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery but carry additional Board Certification... that of the American Board of Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose and Throat) which is also recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialists. This is a qualification only exhibited by a few Plastic Surgeons in the country. I feel this reinforces my expertise in the areas of facial surgery... such as rhinoplasty, face lifts (cervical facial rhytidectomy), eye lifts (blepharoplasty), brow lifts, and otoplasty (surgery for protruding ears). My plastic surgery training established select skills in breast augmentation, breast lift (mastopexy), breast reduction, abdominoplasty and suction lipectomy (both tumescent and ultrasonic). I maintain an active practice in breast reconstruction with modes of implant utilization as well as TRAM (transverse rectus abdominus muscle) flap reconstruction.
My membership in all of the above listed organizations in addition to having been a past president of the Houston Society of Plastic Surgery, a previous full state delegate of the Harris County Medical Society, past Chief of Plastic Surgery at Park Plaza Hospital, and multiple committee appointments during the years that I have previously maintained membership on active staff at the leading hospitals in the Texas Medical Center. I was previously on active staff at the Methodist Hospital, The Woman's Hospital of Texas, and St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital. I previously held an Assistant clinical appointment with The Plastics Surgery division and department of Otolaryngology at the Baylor College of Medicine. I am now on active staff at the Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg, TX and Rio Grande Hospital in McAllen.
I have a deep and personal commitment to medicine and Plastic Surgery, feeling fortunate in being named one of Houston's Top Doctors for the past seven years, as listed in H Texas Magazine. Additional listings by Texas Monthly Magazine as a top Texas Doctor adds to my resolve. My philosophy of practicing "Twenty First Century Medicine with the physician-patient relationship reminiscent of the 1950's" rings true... And I credit this to my success as a Plastic Surgeon.
I look forward to meeting with you.
